For an extremely noisy head, do an active technique. Not a "mini" 5 minute version, the full one hour monster.

For a moderately noisy head, five minutes of dancing and 10 minutes of gibberish should do it.

If you have a noisy head and are unfamiliar with active techniques, or just can't face another dynamic, then dance until you tire, then gibberish until you gibber! That should gentle the ol' ox down a bit.

Of course, if there's some current intense emotion, just express it. Go cry into the pillow, hold it fiercely tight, or strangle it - whatever you need to do. Pillows are great absorbers of emotional expression and best of all, they don't strangle you back.
